It's winter!

Actually, winter came a little over a week ago, when we got our first real snow. It was an unimpressive snow, but it covered (most of) the grass and stayed on the ground for more than six hours, so it gets the nod. Snowmans were built around the area, and salt trucks finally got to dump crap all over the streets. The lack of any snow up to this point really made people overreact to the three (or fewer) inches. You would have thought we were in the middle of a week-long blizzard with all the news reports urging us to put together "emergency kits" of blankets and bottled water and high calorie foods in case we were stranded in our cars. It just wasn't that extreme of a storm.

That snow mostly melted in the next couple of days, but winter returned with something of an ice storm over the weekend. Very little snow, but there was a shiny layer of ice over everything and some power outages. Much, much more dangerous than the snow, but it sure didn't keep all of the city from going to dinner at the Texas Roadhouse Saturday night. We thought we could get less than an hour wait at 5:00 PM in the middle of some craptacular weather, but we were wrong.

Yesterday was, thus far, the coldest day of the season. By midweek, we're supposed to be right back up into the fifties. Then, it's looking to get cold again. Up and down, up and down. Winter got really stupid.
