Blue Snaggletooth says...

season's greetings
December 25, 2001 @ 04:43:40 PM

Merry Christmas to many, and to all a good night.

Oh!
December 20, 2001 @ 04:36:53 AM

December 20th! Happy birthday to Michael!

My nose sucks, and runs.
December 20, 2001 @ 04:31:39 AM

Townsend's insurance now demands that I get all of my prescription drugs through a certain mail order company. I received my first shipment a couple of days ago, and they sent me 180 pills of an allergy medication I no longer take, 90 of my Singulair, and no inhalers. I better get that straightened out now, before I run out of puffs on my albuterol inhaler and have to use my craptacular old nebulizer to tide me over (or swipe my grandma's meds again).

The Christmas CD in our Chex Mix was, quite shockingly, not the most rawking album of all time. It did feature some Perry Como, though, so I have to give it props for that.

I would feel much better today, if only my nose wasn't so sore. Alas.

I love old .html files.

I think I have the flu. Oh, joy.

I ran across a bunch of old files from my freespeech.org days (around October of 1999). My layout wasn't horrible then, which was a pleasant surprise. It also led me to my old message board, titled "Land 'o Crap", which I lost the URL to and hadn't seen in close to two years. Amongst some other odd spam, there's a somewhat eerie post from September 8, 2001, by a fellow calling himself "FDNYsucks", that points to a web site about "how the New York City Fire Department took over and wrecked the Emergency Medical Service". The web site has since been taken down. Not too shocking. Who would want the screen name "FDNYsucks" these days?

ho, ho, ho (and a bottle of rum)

(My greymatter templates aren't blank today. I like that better.)

There's approximately a shitload of Chex mix (TV mix? I've heard both) in the pantry. I've never been its biggest fan, though it was pretty tasty along with those vegetarian sandwiches on the raisin bread at that restaurant I keep meaning to go back to that had all the kickass pie and mismatched dishes. But if you're in the mood for some Chex mix, our pantry is the place to be. It has Cheez-Its and mixed nuts in it, if you're into that sort of thing. If you're not into it, feel free to pick them out.

I'm all excited about Christmas this year. I have no idea why, and I think I'm the only person I know who is. The odds are against me. The weather is insane. It's a little colder out, finally, but we've barely had any frost, and the snow we got the other morning had all melted by the time I woke up in the afternoon. I took terrible pictures of it, though, so I know it happened. It wasn't an unreasonably thrilling dream.

I haven't done much in the way of Christmas shopping, either. I've picked up a few things, but there are still people I need/want to buy things for, and so little time. Even less time than you'd think, because we're celebrating Christmas early this year. Our holidays are all screwed up. We had "Thanksgiving" last weekend, because my sister had surgery the Wednesday before the actual holiday. We'll be celebrating "Christmas" on the 22nd and 23rd, because Eric and Shannon's work place is stupid. The 22nd, apparently, will be spent doing our usual Christmas Day food eating and puttering around as merrily as possible, while the 23rd will be spent doing our usual Christmas Eve exchanging of gifts at Grandma's house. In a sense, we'll be having Christmas Eve after Christmas Day, but before December 24th. Fun stuff.

Fast Freddie didn't even invite me to visit claus.com this year. My email from him has been the official start of the Christmas season since 1997 - not the most time honored tradition, but it was turning into a special event (like Bill's Pie&Chicken Day). I went to the site myself to write my annual letter to Santa, asking him for Transformers and Supernaturals and talking about my daddy passing out in front of the Christmas tree again, and I put the usual pig with a wreath stamp on the front. Then, I discovered that they had changed Fast Freddie's name to "Freddy Fast 'n Quick". How lame is that?

Everything is kind of wrong this year, but that's to be expected. Maybe knowing that things will be weird relieves my mind of any expectations, realistic or otherwise. Hard to say. I'm just excited about Christmas this year. I don't know why, but I'm rolling with it.

Argh. (Not to be confused with "arrr!")

My greymatter templates randomly decided to erase themselves, so I got to put them all back together. I had things somewhat roughly backed up, but I still had to go through and plug the names of stylesheets and whatnot back into the files. It was all very tedious, but kind of neat watching the files rebuild themselves piece by piece. I have a slightly better understanding of the greymatter program than I wanted now.

It was handy having the templates from my other copy of greymatter to grab some of the defaults I had kept from. Would've been a bitch figuring everything out, otherwise.

I'm too tired to write the real entry I was planning to write before I had to put this greymatter back together. (I'm also all out of shape for entry writing after spending all of November concentrating on NaNoWriMo. On the plus side, I am a bad novel in which Christy Mathewson comes forward in time and slays vampires richer. Bully for me.)

It's beginning to look somewhat like Christmas.
December 09, 2001 @ 04:34:23 AM

I finally got around to putting my site back up. And with a fairly unattractive, but Christmas-y layout, no less! I made a pretty sweet pirate snowman image, but I couldn't get the colors to blend very well and decided it would be easier to just make a crappy image with Stereotypical Santa Pirate in stockings than to change everything else. I'll probably put the snowman up after Christmas, when hopefully it will feel more like winter than like early spring. (An aside: A volunteer snapdragon in our front yard bloomed about a week ago in the seventy degree F weather. Poor confused flowers.)

There are still a few things that badly need to be messed with, but this looks presentable enough for now, right?

There's been a lot going on in the month since I posted anything here, but it would take far too long to tell about everything. To be fair to all those events, I think I will talk about none of them. Or I'll wait and talk about them when I'm not so tired. They don't really care, I bet.
